-ed in the war loan in course of time.

4. In the case of Wm. Meyerink and Company it is

probable that there will be sufficient assets to pay a portion of

the claim if you should decide that claims of this nature are to

be paid. If the funds of Wm. Meyerink and Company are not applied

for this purpose they would possibly be applied to the payment of

a claim by the Russo-Asiatic Bank against the Shanghai branch of the

firm.

I take this opportunity of stating that the bum of $200,000 mentioned in my Despatch of the 14th. March is only

an approximate amount, and also of explaining that of course if

that sum is to be paid to the Disconto Gesellschaft it would be

remitted to that bank and not to the Bank of England.
